The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything
From Marilyn Courtot - Children's Literature.
A delightful story of a brave little woman who, during a walk through the woods, finally starts to notice the shoes clomping behind her, the pants swishing, and others sounds. Her pace quickens until she makes a dash for her safe, snug little home. There is more to the story, and it has a happy not very scary ending, just right for the little ones. Book (1988) and audiotape for listening or reading along.

Five Little Pumpkins
Reviews
From The Horn Book, Inc. -
Yaccarino's spare illustrations and sense of humor are just what board books have been waiting for. He enlivens the "five little pumpkins / sitting on a gate" rhyme by adding a silent yet comic ghost (who floats out of a chimney, dances, and juggles pumpkins) to his expressive cast of pumpkins (who range from sad to happy to surprised). While the ghost ever-so-unobtrusively upstages the pumpkins, their combined theatrics will grab the hard-to-hold attention of board bookers

The Case of the Halloween Ghost (Hank the Cowdog Series #9)
Recommend Age Range: 8 to 12. Reviews
From Uma Krishnaswami - Children's Literature
Here is Hank the Cowdog in a spooky Halloween adventure to split your sides over, especially as it sets out to stop hearts and chill spines. Scared of ghosts? Not Hank. Which is just as well, since strange things aplenty begin to happen in quick succession. Erickson plots apace with his customary good humor and wordplay--no centrifuge--honest! And we end, along with Hank and his cohorts, on a comfortable note of zzzzz.
Kids love Hank the Cowdog.

Patti, a preschool teacher from Toledo, OH, November 4, 1999,
Loved by Adults too :o)
I teach preschool and my class of 3-year olds love this book. After reading the book two times they could recite it word for word back to me. Their favorite part is how the little bat saves the day. Each child has taken the book and cassette home to share with Mom and Dad. The parents just rave about how they also enjoied the book. Great for the holiday and any day
