The red eye tree frogs is bright green in color with hues of blue under the legs and bright orange feet. This makes them very attractive and popular as pet frogs. Their size ranges from 2" to 2.5" in length. In captivity, they can live up to 10 years. They are nocturmal creatures or creatures of the night. Always wash your hands clean before you handle your pet. Any chemicals like lotion on our skin can cause problems for the frog. It is advisable that you do not handle or take them out to play often.

Home will require about a 10 gallon tank. Frogs love water so place a water dish for it to soak in. It is advisable to place a humidity gauge and thermometer in the tank to monitor it because the red eye tree frog comes from a tropical country where it is very humid. To do this, you can spray the tank with water several times in a day. However, it is important to make sure that you only use non chlorinated water as frogs are very sensitive to chemicals. Having a plant inside the tank, some moss, bark, dirt and some leaves for substrate helps provide humidity too. However, you need to be careful if you are using a real plant because some of these plants may carry bacteria. Your other choice would be to have an artificial plant. To keep the tank in the right temperature, you can get an undertank heater. The ideal temperature should be around 70 and 80 degrees. If budget is not a problem, you might want to consider a more natural setup. This will need a much larger tank though, like almost three times the size of what was mentioned earlier. A mini pond or waterfall can be added into the tank. To make sure your frog does not escape, cover the tank with a screen.

Food for your pet red eye tree frog should include worms, crickets and other insects. Your frog should be eating around 12 or more crickets a week.
